Dr. Nowshad Amin is a Professor at the College of Engineering of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (@ UNITEN, The Energy University) of Malaysia. He also leads the Solar Energy Research Unit under the Institute of Sustainable Energy of UNITEN as the seconded position. After the higher secondary education from his native country, Bangladesh, he received the Japanese Ministry of Education (MONBUSHO) scholarship in 1990 to study electrical engineering, where he got Diploma (1994) from Gunma College of Technology, BSc (1996) from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan. Subsequently, he achieved his Masters (1998) and PhD (2001) from Tokyo Institute of Technology in solar photovoltaic energy technology. His areas of expertise include solar photovoltaic energy materials and solar cell development as well as applications. He is a senior member of IEEE and a distinguished lecturer (DL) of IEEE’s Electron Devices Society (EDS). Apart from teaching, he has been leading numerous government (Malaysia) and international (e.g., NSF of USA, QNRF of Qatar Foundation, NPST of Saudi Arabia) funded research projects. He is actively involved in promoting Solar Energy in South and Southeast Asian countries.
